The 54 m-high Lingaraj temple (king of lingas, the phallic symbol of Lord Shiva) is dedicated to Tribhuvaneswar (Lord of Three Worlds). Truly paradise on earth, Nandankanan is one of the best organized zoos in the world. Spread over 400 hectares in the Chandaka forest, it receives footfall of more than 2.5 million visitors every year. The zoo houses 67 kinds of mammals, 81 species of birds and 18 varieties of reptiles, and also has a botanical garden.
