The 54 m-high Lingaraj temple (king of lingas, the phallic symbol of Lord Shiva) is dedicated to Tribhuvaneswar (Lord of Three Worlds). Thoughtfully surrounded by dozens of smaller temples and shrines; the temple is believed to be around thousand years older. The main temple is restricted to Hindus, but there is a viewing platform; from where anyone can catch the sight. Reflective of the great Kalinga architecture; the temple offers a holistic viewing pleasure – The main gate, guarded by two moustachioed yellow lions, granite blocks, thoughtfully carved out designs – everything is a blessed food for the eyes.
