How to Prepare “Open First” Box

Packing and moving is a roller coaster ride and there are many things to take care. The most important thing is “Open First” box. This is the last box that you pack and also it is the very first box to be unpacked. it contains all the essentials that you may need during the last days in your old house and initial days in your new place.

Here are some essential that must be in “Open me first” box.

Toilet and Bathroom Essentials

It should include hand sanitizers, soaps, tooth brush, toothpaste, combs, hair dryer, shaving kit, toilet papers, hand towels, shampoo and bathroom towels for each family member and other cosmetics that you use on daily basis.

Bedroom Items

The open first box should contain bedspreads, pillows, blankets, additional set of clothes, and night dresses for each family member.

For the Kids

It is great to pack some toys, games, and books to keep kids engaging and happy. Additionally, you can also pack some crayons, pencils, and other craft items to keep them busy.

Take care of Pets

If you have pets like a cat or a dog, make sure to take their food, bowl. Also, take some soothing pet toys.

Kitchen items

Include some important kitchen items like plastic plates, cups, ready to cook a meal, soap, beverages etc. After all the hectic move and unloading everyone will be hungry, make sure to include some healthy snacks.

Cleaning items

Prepare essential cleaning items like mops, broom, detergent, surface cleaner, sponges, old clothes, newspapers etc.

Other Items

It can be your cosmetics, medicines, mobile charges, laptops, batteries, torch, emergency light, mosquito repellent, tool box, trash bags, light bulbs, old news papers.

Money, documents, and other items

Take some money for tipping the moving staff. Always carry your jewel and other expensive things along with you. Additionally, carry all your documents like credit cards, debit cards, bank papers, medical documents, driving license, birth certificate, passport etc.

Once you have prepared and packed the ” Open first box”, label it and keep it away from other boxes so that moving staff does not take it. You can keep it in your car if you are traveling into your new home by car.

Once you have arrived at your new home, after the unloading you can open the essential box and have a shower, meal and have a good sleep.
